Leather Backpack

The backpack is the most honest bag there is: two straps and your hands free. We built this one from leather that softens with a season of use, and the rolled trim of wrapped lacing around the flap and base is the old saddle shop trick for guarding the edges that wear first.

The flap folds over a metal hook, with a drawstring cincher underneath to keep the top drawn closed. Inside there's a zip pocket and two open pockets, plus a top carry handle and adjustable straps. Wear it with a flannel and raw denim on the trail, or under a plain overcoat in town.
